Before you start

Go to perplexity.ai and sign in
Click your profile icon and go to Settings
Check the Account tab for any "Export" or "Data" option — it may be available depending on your account type

How to download

If the export option is visible: click "Request data export" in Settings > Account
If not available: email privacy@perplexity.ai with subject "Data Export Request" and your registered email address
You should receive a response within 30 days (legally required under GDPR/CCPA)
As a fallback, manually copy important threads using the Share or Copy options on individual threads

Pro tip

Perplexity doesn't yet offer a self-serve bulk data export like ChatGPT does. Your best option right now is to email privacy@perplexity.ai with a GDPR or CCPA data request — they are legally required to respond. For Pro users, the web interface has a "Request data export" option appearing in some accounts under Settings.

After the download

Review your threads for sensitive queries, personal information, or data you no longer want stored
Delete individual thread history from Perplexity if no longer needed (Settings > Account > Delete history)
Store any exported files in an encrypted location like ProtonDrive or pCloud
