Before you start

Go to takeout.google.com and sign in with your Google account
Click "Deselect all" to start from scratch

How to download

Check the box next to "Gemini" — this covers your Gems data
Check the box next to "My Activity"
Click "All activity data included" that appears under My Activity
In the pop-up, click "Deselect all"
Check the box next to "Gemini Apps" only, then click "OK"
Scroll down and click "Next step"
Choose your delivery method (email link is simplest), file type (ZIP), and size
Click "Create export" and wait for the email

Pro tip

There are two separate Gemini data types in Takeout and most people only grab one. "Gemini" exports your Gems (custom models you built). Your actual conversation history lives under "My Activity" > Gemini Apps. You need both selected to get everything.

After the download

Open the ZIP and look in the "My Activity / Gemini Apps" folder for your chats
Review for sensitive queries or uploaded documents
Delete Gemini activity at myactivity.google.com if you want to clear the log
Store the archive in ProtonDrive or pCloud for an off-site backup
