Before you start

Open Telegram Desktop app
Go to Settings > Advanced

How to download

Click "Export Telegram Data"
Choose categories and format (HTML recommended for readability)
Click "Export" and wait for the file to be generated
Save the archive

Pro tip

Use Telegram Desktop (not mobile) for the export — it gives you full control over format (HTML or JSON) and lets you filter by date range or chat type.

After the download

Store the HTML export in an encrypted folder
It contains your full message history including deleted messages on your side
