Dropbox is file sync, which makes the interesting question less about what is in your account and more about what is actually on your disk right now. The export gives you everything Dropbox holds, including files you deleted from your devices months ago and versions going back further than you would expect.

Before you start

  1. Go to Settings > General
  2. Scroll to "Data"

How to download

  1. Select "Download all your files" or "Export"
  2. Download the archive

Pro tip

You can also use "Dropbox Transfer" to send a copy of your files to yourself.

After the download

  • Review "Connected Apps"
  • Delete "Deleted Files" if you want them gone
  • Once verified, duplicate important folders to another location such as ProtonDrive, pCloud, or an external SSD.
